KUCHING, July 21: A student dormitory at SMK Song 1 in Sibu was partially destroyed by fire today.

According to a report from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they were alerted regarding the incident at 4.15pm and deployed a team from Bomba Song to the location.

Based on a report from the operation commander upon arrival, the fire broke out on the second floor, destroying 60 per cent of the dormitory.

Firefighters managed to put out the flames and control the situation in about 40 minutes before ending the operation at 6.26pm.

During the incident, only six individuals (four wardens, two students) were staying at the dormitory. — DayakDaily
