Fire destroys saloon car parked behind Miri shophouse

MIRI (Aug 5): A saloon car parked behind a shophouse at Pelita Commercial Centre here was destroyed after it suddenly caught fire last night.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the driver of the vehicle was unhurt in the 10.20pm incident.

“Bomba received a distress call on the incident at 10.21pm and immediately despatched a team of personnel from Bomba Miri to the scene.

“Upon arrival at 10.26pm, it was found that the car that was parked there was 100 per cent destroyed,” Bomba said in a statement.

The team managed to get the fire under control at 10.32pm.

Firefighters wrapped up the operation at 11pm.

“The cause and value of losses in this incident are under probe,” added the statement.
