Fire guts cargo lorry

BINTULU: A cargo lorry carrying goods from Miri to Bintulu was significantly damaged by fire on Sunday afternoon near a brick factory at Mile 18.

“The fire engulfed the lorry’s head upon arrival, with roughly 90 per cent of it already burned,” said the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) in a statement.

Firefighters from the Kidurong fire station were dispatched promptly after the emergency call received at 3.05 pm.

The BOMBA team acted swiftly, utilising an auxiliary flow duct to start the machinery pump and extinguish the blaze efficiently.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
