Fire razes six houses in Kpg Long Mekabar

MIRI (Sept 14): Six houses in Kampung Long Mekabar near Ulu Baram were completely destroyed in a fire that broke out early Saturday morning.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre spokesperson, the fire occurred at about 3am.

“The fire involved six non-permanent structure houses which were 100 per cent destroyed. Based on preliminary information, none of the victims were injured,” he said in a statement.

A team of four firemen from the Marudi fire station were despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 8.25am.

Bomba said the journey to the scene was expected to take more than eight hours with a travel distance of 302 kilometres from the Marudi fire station.
