ADVERTISE HERE
BINTULU (Sept 9): The fire at Kidurong landfill here had spread across five acres by 11pm last night, according to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
In a statement, Bomba said firefighters from Kidurong fire station battled the blaze using a 200-foot hose line connected to a water tanker at point A, while at point B, another 200-foot hose line from a portable pump was deployed.
Despite their best efforts, the portable pump encountered technical difficulties at 11.10pm, forcing the operation commander, Harrison Dawi, to notify the engineering department.
Heavy rain at 6am today provided a much-needed relief, allowing the exhausted firefighters to take a short break.
Throughout the operation, the firefighters were supported by additional personnel and equipment from Trienekens and Bintulu Development Authority.
