MIRI (Oct 15): The floodwaters in Marudi have receded this morning, allowing residents to begin cleaning their houses, which have been inundated since Friday.

Marudi Civil Defence Force (APM Marudi) officer-in-charge Mirwan Shah Masri said that as of 7.30am today, floodwaters in Kampung Narum, Kampung Dagang, Marudi bazaar, Kampung Ridan, Kampung Cina, Kampung Padang Kerbau, and the ferry area have completely receded.

“Based on our patrols this morning, the floodwaters have receded, and the road leading to the ferry from Miri is now accessible to all vehicles.

“Residents have also started cleaning their houses this morning,” he said.

He attributed the receding waters to improved weather conditions.

“Nevertheless, our team will continue to patrol and monitor the situation. We also advise residents to remain vigilant in case the floodwaters return due to unpredictable weather,” he added.
