BINTULU (July 25): A team from the Bintulu Criminal Investigation Department has arrested four men suspected of stealing communications components, including batteries and cables, from telecommunications towers in Bintulu and Miri districts.
Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said police seized various tools used for cutting cables, rolls of cables, and battery components during the operation.
He said all four suspects have prior records, with a total of 10 theft-related offences and eight drug abuse offences.
“The police will apply for remand at the Bintulu Magistrates’ Court, and the investigation is being conducted under Section 379 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement.
He added preliminary urine tests found three of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine.
