Four bills were tabled at the Sarawak DUN assembly

KUCHING, Oct 9: The session of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) from October 12 to 21 will witness the presentation of four government bills, which is the last session for the fifth term.

DUN Sarawak Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, said it consists of the Supply Bill (2027) 2026, Additional Supply Bill (2026) 2026, Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the General Exemption Day (Amendment) Bill 2026.

"The Supply Bill (2027) 2026 will be presented by the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, while the Additional Supply Bill (2026) 2026 is presented by Deputy Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embassy", he said.

He said this at a press conference on the occasion of the Second Meeting for the 19th DUN Sarawak Five-Year Period at the Headquarters of the United Party of Nationalists (UPR) in Sarawak, here today.

According to him, the Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Bill 2026 will be presented by Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

The General Release Day (Amendment) Bill 2026 will be presented by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Department of Premier (Laws, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.

Mohammad Asfia said no notice of proposal was received under the 23rd Meeting Rules till the closing date of submission on October 2.

The eight-day conference also saw the election of the National Assembly Members on October 13 to replace Senator Michael Mujah Lihan who will end his term of office on December 10, 2026.

In the meantime, he said 336 oral and written questions were received from DUN Members adding that the questions had been submitted by 40 ADUN till the closure date of surrender on 28 September last.

"Of the 336 questions, 264 were for oral responses submitted by 37 members of the council, while the remaining 72 were for written answers from 13 ADUN.

"The Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications received the highest number of questions at 56", he said.
