KUCHING, Jan 4: Nur Hazirah Ramli, a talented young bowler from Sarawak, is set to make her mark on the international stage as she represents Malaysia in the upcoming International Bowling Federation (IBF) Youth Cup Tenpin Bowling Championship in Lima, Peru from Jan 19 to Jan 24.
Hazirah is also set to take part in the World Youth Cup, World Youth Championship, and Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024, which will be held in Sarawak this year.
“I am looking forward to 2024 with all the experience I have gained and looking towards further improving myself as an athlete.
“By focusing on growth and the thought process, I believe this year will be as good or better than last year.
“I have ended last year with several titles, podium finishes, as well as a bronze medal in the Asian Youth Championship,” she said when met recently, reported Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today.
Meanwhile, Nur Hazirah’s mentor and coach, Angelo Koay, described 2023 as nothing short of amazing for the 21-year-old athlete.
“It is of no surprise that she was able to perform well and maintain such high levels consistently throughout the year.
“In the Sarawak-Amateur Tenpin Bowling Association Sarawak (ABAS) training programme, the goal is to train our athletes beyond the national level.
“The state side has equipped them with the technical and tactical knowledge of this sport, strengthened with a holistic physical condition, and strengthened with the ‘Anang Ngalah Majak Mansang’ (Never Give Up, Keep Going) mentality,” he said, as reported by the news outlet. — DayakDaily
