Garbage truck in Serian slightly damaged after storage section catches fire

KUCHING (Aug 15): A garbage truck was partially damaged after it caught fire at Bukit Rasau in Serian today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a distress call was received at 2.27pm and personnel from the Serian fire station were sent to the location some 7km away.

“The fire involved the truck’s garbage storage compartment, with damage estimated at 20 per cent,” it said.

It said the fire was fully extinguished at 3.40pm, with no reports of injuries received.

“After extinguishing the fire, Bomba personnel escorted the truck to the landfill as a precaution,” the department added.
