KUCHING, Sept 14: The third edition of the Gifted Art Exhibition showcases the remarkable talents and creativity of 13 special children and young adults through their artworks at Plaza Merdeka.

Organised by the Kuching Surimas Fans of Art, Dance, Music Association, in collaboration with Plaza Merdeka and the Kuching Association of Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (KATSN), the exhibition runs from Sept 13-17.

KATSN advisor Dato Sim Kiang Chiok highlighted that among the 13 talented individuals, 10 are autistic, one has ADHD, one has epilepsy, and one has dyslexia.

“Their stunning artworks not only display their unique abilities but also highlight their creative contributions to the community,” he said in a statement today.

The featured artists are April Lee, Brian Lin, Damian Clarke, Nathan Lau, Raymond Wong, Dave Hwang, Steven Hwang, Darryon Leong, Rachel Lee, Carson Chang, Tommy Tie, Kelvin Li, and Alister Sim.

Third edition of Gifted Art Exhibition showcase artworks by 13 special children and young adults at Plaza Merdeka from Sept 13-17.

Themed “Inclusion and Community,” the exhibition was officially opened by Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah on Friday (Sept 13).

Sim encouraged the public to visit the exhibition’s sales booth and support by purchasing handmade goods produced by the participants.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience Kuching’s community spirit and support the work of these talented individuals. Bring your friends and family to enjoy the festival, appreciate the artwork, and contribute to a worthy cause. Let’s celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together with art, culture, and inclusion,” he added.

The Gifted Art Exhibition is part of Plaza Merdeka’s Mid-Autumn Festival, a 10-day celebration featuring exciting performances, exhibitions, and competitions. — DayakDaily
