A grandfather witnessed his 6-year-old granddaughter being attacked and dragged into deep water by a crocodile at a jetty in Bintulu, Sarawak yesterday, 18 September
According to Berita Harian, the incident occurred at Kampung Seberang Pasar Lama at about 6.30pm when the victim, Cicilia Julan Intik, was bathing in the river with her family.
A Sarawak fire and rescue department spokesperson said they received a distress call about the incident at 7.21pm and a team of six firemen was dispatched to the scene.
The search and rescue operation was concentrated around the pier at the riverbank
Policemen and the victim's family members also joined the search, reported the New Straits Times.
However, as of 10pm, there was still no sign of Cicilia.
The search operation resumed this morning, 19 September, reported Bernama. At the time of writing, there have been no updates on Cicilia.
