SELANGAU: Faith in humanity was restored when good samaritans helped to extricate nine individuals after the van they drove lost control and collided with a road barrier along the Jalan Selangau-Sibu yesterday (28 Dec).
According to a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) a distress call was received at 3.39 pm that prompted the dispatch of Selangau firefighters to the scene.
Upon arrival, reports indicated that a van, believed to have gone out of control, had crashed into a road barrier. Remarkably, before the team arrived, conscientious members of the public had already taken all the victims to the Selangau Health Clinic.
Fire fighters conducted a size-up around the accident area and carried out the necessary cleanup of accident debris. No rescue operations were performed as all victims had been safely evacuated.
After ensuring the situation was entirely safe, the operation concluded at 3.50 pm.
