MIRI, 21 September: A semi-permanent house in Rango village burned down in an incident this morning.
According to the Centre for Operational Motions (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak, it received a call about the incident at 8.14 am before teams from Miri Central Fire and Rescue Hall (BBP) arrived on site at 8.26 am.
"On arrival at the scene, firefighters found that the fire involved a semi-permanent structure about 40 x 60 feet with estimated destruction of about 50 percent.
"The fire was successfully contained at 8.40 am, while extinguishing and security inspections were continued before the operation was fully completed by 11.07 am", according to the statement.
Eight members along with two FRT engines, two EMRS as well as a Hilux and D-Max were involved in the operation.
Two vehicles were rescued, while no casualties were reported.
The house was occupied by five people, two adult males and three adult females.
The cause of the fire and total damage are still under investigation.
