KAPIT (July 20): Some 100 hundred hashers from all over the country and Brunei gathered in Selirik here to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Tropical Rainforest Hash Club Kapit Chapter this weekend.

On Friday, the hashers from Peninsula, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Kapit and Brunei attended a welcoming dinner at the Kapit Foochow Association multipurpose hall.

This afternoon, the hashers will go jungle hashing at 2.30pm before attending the anniversary dinner at a restaurant here.

On Sunday, they will go on a walkabout in Kapit town to visit places of interest such as the Terasang Wet Market, Geranggang Kenyalang, Kapit Town Square, Fort Sylvia and Lily Pond.

Organising chairman Kimi Soon Peng Hai in his welcoming speech said every year, the Kapit Chapter organises the anniversary celebration to invite hashers from all over to join in.

“Our aim is to encourage hashers to visit Kapit because of its unique terrains such as rivers, hills and jungle and for them to experience the hospitality of the locals.

“In this way, we are helping the Kapit Tourism Task Force Group, led by the Kapit Resident’s Office, to promote Kapit to outsiders as a destination for culture, adventure and nature,” he said.
