Head of State to attend Sarawak Day do

KUCHING: The Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, will be attending the Sarawak Day Celebration 2024, set to take place on July 22 in Bintulu.

The announcement comes after an official visit by the Main Committee of the Sarawak Day Celebration 2024, led by the Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development, Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

During the courtesy visit to the Astana on July 10, Rundi (the organising chairman and the minister responsible for this year’s celebration) formally invited Wan Junaidi and his wife.

This year’s celebration, themed ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur,’ will feature a series of events. On July 20, a Thanksgiving Ceremony for Other Religions will be held at Dewan Suarah Bintulu, followed by a similar ceremony at Assyakirin Mosque Bintulu the next day.

The highlight of the festivities will be the Sarawak Day Gathering on July 22 at the Bintulu Old Airport site.

In attendance during the courtesy visit were State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Development, Datuk Rosey Yunus, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, and Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat.
