BINTULU (Aug 7): A comprehensive health census is being conducted in Bintulu until Aug 16.

According to the Bintulu Divisional Health Office, the National Health Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2024 focuses on nutrition-related aspects.

“The survey aims to assess the health status and associated risk factors among the Malaysian population and collect population-based data on Malaysians’ nutritional status,” it said.

Bintulu Divisional Health Office said the findings will provide the Ministry of Health Malaysia with important information for reviewing national nutrition priorities, initiatives, and planning more effective health services.

As such, members of the public are requested to cooperate with the staff of the Institute for Public Health (IKU) who are carrying out this census.

“Trained interviewers from IKU will visit selected homes randomly to collect data,” it said.

Bintulu Divisional Health Office said approximately 8,000 households have been randomly selected nationwide from the Department of Statistics Malaysia sampling.

“The activities involved include face-to-face interviews, anthropometric assessments, blood pressure screenings, 24-hour urine sampling, blood investigations, and household salt sampling (if applicable),” it added.
