KUCHING (Jan 18): A three-day ‘Dou Miao Meng Gong Chang’ camp has concluded successfully, benefitting 109 pupils of Chung Hua Primary School (CHPS) No. 1, Jalan Tabuan here.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Kuching CHPS No. 1-6 Board of Management chairman Dato Jonathan Chai expressed optimism over the camp’s positive impact on the young participants.

Chai reminded the pupils that life is filled with ups and downs and urged them not to grumble when faced with difficulties.

“The only way to solve a problem is to confront it and work towards a solution,” he said, encouraging the pupils to take responsibility for their actions instead of blaming others.

“When you are down, it is time to reflect, take responsibility, and move forward in order to earn the respect of others.”

Chai further advised the pupils not to make excuses, but to confront their shortcomings with courage and strive for self-improvement.

“In addition, refrain from making hurtful remarks or spreading negativity,” he said, adding that self-control and wisdom go hand in hand.

“A person who knows how to hold his or her tongue is likely to experience steady personal growth,” he advised.

Emphasising the importance of humility, Chai said that while self-confidence is vital, humility matters even more.

“Be willing to learn, heed advice and constantly improve yourself,” he said, while also reminding the pupils the importance of forgiveness, to admit their mistakes, and to practise gratitude.

He pointed out that showing gratitude, care, and love towards family, friends, and oneself not only strengthens relationships but also helps foster a caring society.

The camp was a joint initiative between Emart Group of Companies and CHPS No.1.

Present were Emart Group of Companies managing director Ngu Ting Sii and CHPS No.1 headmaster Chang Tsai Heng.
