KUCHING (Aug 23): A mother has recently sought help from Hope Place Kuching to provide specific baby formula for her baby girl suffering from multiple illnesses.
Hope Place in a statement said Norhayatie, 26, said her baby Qasyiffa Rzqiyah Ikmal Rezal takes only a particular baby milk powder, and that other formulas would cause her to throw up or have diarrhoea.
“Qasyiffa, one-and-a-half years old, has Down’s syndrome, speech delay, lung problems as well as hyper thyroid, and lives with her parents, grandfather and brother at Semariang,” said the non-governmental organisation (NGO).
Despite her health conditions, Qasyiffa is very active and loves to crawl around, added Hope Place.
“This is, however, worrying since she always has shortness of breath. Her mother mentioned that according to doctors, Qasyiffa might need to depend on an oxygen machine for the rest of her life.
“Qasyiffa will undergo a CT scan soon to be diagnosed with lung-related disease because her oxygen blood level is very low,” said the charitable body.
It is learnt that Qasyiffa’s father Ikmal works as a contract construction worker and gets paid when there is work, while Norhayatie works as a cleaner. The couple also has a five-year-old son.
Hope Place said besides Qasyiffa, the couple is also taking care of Norhayatie’s father and sister, who is a jobless single mother with two children.
“With rent, medical bills and so many mouths to feed at home, the couple is struggling financially,” said Hope Place.
The NGO extended appreciation to all donors and sponsors who continuously support families and marginalised children like Qasyiffa.
It welcomes all donations and will issue receipts upon request. Individuals can donate directly to Hope Place’s Maybank account 511289001160 or visit its Facebook page for the S Pay Global QR code.
