KUCHING: A local philanthropy organisation, Kelly Group has recently donated 50 cans of special milk powder supplements worth RM3,750 to non-governmental organisation (NGO) Hope Place Kuching founder, Kelvin Wan to support tube feeding patients.
The generous donation was presented by the group’s leader Kelly Lau earlier this week to Kelvin Wan.
According to Wan, Hope Place is currently supporting around 26 tube feeding patients, who are unable to generate income by themselves.
“Among them is Sim Soon Ang, 58, who has oral cancer and cannot consume solid food.
“Sim resides alone in a Buddhist temple and deeply appreciates the continuous supply of special milk provided by Hope Place,” he said.
He added that another recipient is Iswandy bin Zainal who has a throat cancer.
“The 45-year old is a family man, who is unable to speak and takes special milk once every four hours.
“Typically, tube feeding patients consume two to three cans of milk per week,” he added.
For the record, he revealed that Kelly Group has been a regular contributor to Hope Place, supporting its charitable causes in helping the underserved communities here in Kuching.
“We are very thankful to people like these, who have the heart and passion to help our community,” he said.
Besides that, Wan also informed that Hope Place is currently supporting 46 adult diaper users with disabilities or chronic illnesses and welcome any contributions, whether monetary or in-kind, to assist the marginalised individuals.
