KUCHING: The 2024 Innovative and Creative Circle (ICC) Convention for the Sarawak Premier’s Department (JPS) is described as an effort to foster the spirit of innovation and improve the agencies of the Sarawak government.

State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said that the participation of ICC groups this year has increased to 33 groups compared to 23 groups in the previous year.

“This increase shows the commitment and effort of all parties to contribute towards cultivating innovation in public service and creating projects from the generation of creative and innovative ideas to help provide solutions to issues and challenges occurring at the organisational level.

“This participation also indicates that more innovation projects are being designed to improve and enhance the quality of service delivery in their respective agencies,” he said.

He said this in his text speech read by Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee at the JPS ICC Convention Awards Ceremony, here on Friday.

He added that the ICC Project is one platform for each agency’s staff to improve services and work processes from the implementation or worker level.

“It also proposes solutions to each issue and problem in service delivery from a ‘bottom-up approach’ perspective,” he added.

However, Abu Bakar said the agency Heads of Department should continuously monitor their ICC groups following a trend of ICC Groups withdrawing at the last minute before the convention begins.

“Despite time constraints and responsibilities towards tasks, it is not an excuse for all of us to stop being innovators and participate in the ICC Convention and various other Innovation Month programmes because this is one way and opportunity for us to contribute towards improving the quality of public service to the people,” he said.
