KUCHING, Sept. 16: Progress achieved in Malaysia today proves that no citizen has been spared from enjoying the flow of development and benefits of economic prosperity of the country.

Sarawak State Elder, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the success demanded that all parties continue to pay attention to the well-being of Golden citizens, people with disabilities, rural communities and vulnerable communities.

According to him, the leadership of the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg proves that an inclusive rural development approach can bring real change to people's lives.

"This step ensures that indigenous communities as well as villagers and long-haul residents also experience the current of modernization", he said in a message for Sambutan Hari Malaysia 2026.

Wan Junaidi said among the examples of this approach was the establishment of several regional development agencies such as Northern Regional Development Agency (NRDA), Hulu Rajang Development Agency (URDA) and Highland Development Agency (HDA).

According to him, the channelling of specific allocations for infrastructure development such as roads, clean water supply and electricity in rural areas is an important foundation for a country's prosperity.

Meanwhile, in connection with the celebration of Malaysia Day, he said that this historic date should be seen as a turning point for building a more just, progressive and humane country.

"Malaysia Day also teaches us that success does not come through the easy path.

"It requires patience, wisdom, unity and sacrifice. So let's continue to shoulder every challenge with a steady spirit", he said.
