KUCHING: The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Professor Dr Ma’ruf Amin, has safely arrived here to represent President Joko Widodo at the Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF) 2023.
The distinguished delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Ma’ruf Amin and his wife, Wury Ma’ruf Amin, landed at Kuching International Airport (KIA) at 1 pm yesterday (Nov 28).
Welcoming the Indonesian delegation at KIA were the Minister for Utilities and Telecommunications, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, and his wife, Datin Sri Sadiah Buji.
Brigadier General Agus Supriyo Winarno of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) was also present to extend a warm welcome.
Ma’ruf and his wife attended the GMBF 2023 Gala Dinner at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) last evening.
Present at the gala dinner include the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The GMBF 2023, themed ‘Innovation and Transformation in the Islamic Economy,’ will unfold over three days, from Nov 28 to 30, at BCCK.
This forum is set to host representatives from 37 countries, with an estimated 1,000 participants, including prominent global leaders.
Among the forum’s goals is to bring the Islamic world closer together by establishing stronger relationships and partnerships, especially in the Middle East, Asia, and the rest of the world.
Additionally, this forum serves as an ideal platform for connecting the Muslim world with the non-Muslim community.
GMBF 2023 will feature keynote speeches by Muslim world leaders, plenary sessions, workshops, awards ceremonies, and gala dinners.
