Innovation and Integrity are the drivers of effective delivery to the people

KUCHING, Sept. 22: Innovation and integrity must go hand in hand to ensure that every program and project implemented by the government has an impact on the people.

Sarawak Government Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the approach is important in ensuring that public service delivery remains relevant to current needs.

According to him, innovation shouldn't be limited to the upper echelons, instead ideas and improvements can come from all levels within an organization.

"But we have to ask our people, really, what we've done has had an impact. People who feel what we're doing. Our process may be improved from time to time.

But at the same time, whatever we do, whatever innovation we make, should have an impact on people. I'm taking an example, for example, if we do a road project, or a parity project, we have to ask ourselves, does that project have an impact on people? Is it felt by the people?" he said.

He said this during his inaugural address to the Sarawak Government Secretariat Board for HIITS 2026 here today.

In addition, the Sarawak Department of Land and Survey plays an important role as a facilitator to development, particularly in ensuring efficient and transparent land management.

He added that people now not only look at the process of service delivery, but also assess waiting times, accuracy of results and clarity of answers given.

In this regard, he urged the people of Sarawak Land and Survey Department to continue working as a team, empowering innovation and ensuring that every programme implemented is beneficial and impacts felt by the people. - TVS
