SONG: A local man endured half an hour of excruciating pain after an iron rod pierced his Achilles tendon yesterday (July 23).
He was rushed to the Song health clinic for emergency treatment.
Due to the severity of the injury, firefighters from Song station were alerted to the clinic at 5.43pm for assistance in cutting and removing the rod from the man’s leg.
Upon arrival, medical personnel informed the firefighters about the situation whereby the iron rod had pierced the victim’s right leg.
They used a bolt-cutting equipment to remove the iron rod from the victim’s leg. After successfully cutting the rod, the victim was handed over to Song medical personnel for further treatment.
The operation was conducted safely, and ended the operation at 5.57pm.
