Isthmus Run 2024 returns on August 11

KUCHING: Runners are encouraged to lace up their running shoes and get ready for the Sarawak Energy  Isthmus Run 2024, happening this August 11 at The Isthmus, here. 

According to a press statement issued by the Sarawak Energy on Sunday,  the returning for its 9th edition since its 2013 start is set to take place in conjunction with the Kuching City Day celebration.

“This annual event aims to foster a greater sense of community and pride among event-goers as they commemorate Kuching’s elevation to city status in 1988.  

“Flag-offs for the run will be at 4.30 am for the 21km Half Marathon, 6 am for the 10km Run and 6.45 am for the 5km Run,” the statement read.

The statement revealed that the top 15 finishers for the 21km Half Marathon and 10km categories can look forward to  attractive cash prizes totalling up to RM39,000.

“Meanwhile, 21KM Half Marathon finishers, who complete the race within the four-hour cut-off time will receive a finisher T-shirt. 

“Additionally, there is a special reward for the top 15 male and female finishers in this category,  who will each receive an exclusive top 15 finisher’s T-shirt,” said Sarawak Energy.

Adding further, the statement said that proceeds from all registrations will be donated to charitable bodies to support those in need.

“In 2023, the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run raised a total amount of RM176,000 which was  equally distributed to selected charitable bodies.  

“Supporters who want to be a part of this community event can also enjoy the carnival and food trucks at the event without registration,” it added.
