KUCHING: As the clock struck midnight on Jan 1, 2024, Sarawak echoed with the joyous cries of newborns, ushering in the New Year with the gift of new life.

Serian Hospital became a haven for celebration as it welcomed three precious arrivals, including two boys and a charming baby girl.

The little girl, born at 8.51am, weighed a healthy 2.8kg, bringing immense joy to her family of Bidayuh Muslim.

Meanwhile, over at Borneo Medical Center (BMC) Kuching, the day sparkled with the birth of two beautiful baby girls, each tipping the scales at a robust 3.19kg.

The clock struck 10am, marking the moment these little miracles joined the world.

Their arrival added to the tapestry of the Malay community’s celebrations on this auspicious New Year’s Day.

In another corner of the city, Normah Medical Center celebrated the birth of a baby girl on the same day, creating a harmonious symphony of joy as families embraced the promise of a new beginning.

However, at Kuching Specialist Hospital, the anticipation of a New Year’s arrival didn’t materialise, as no newborns were reported on Jan 1, 2024.

The hospital staff extend warm wishes to all families, emphasising that every day holds the potential for joyous moments.
