Janting-Tulai road, Sarikei Waterfront among key projects reviewed for smooth implementation

SARIKEI, Sept 24: The Janting Road-Tulai Road project and proposed Sarikei Waterfront are among several key development projects in Sarikei being reviewed to assess their progress, address implementation issues and ensure they deliver tangible benefits to the community.

The projects were discussed during a meeting on development initiatives under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) within the Sarikei parliamentary constituency today.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities and Sarikei MP Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii said the meeting was important to assess the progress of key projects and identify any issues that could affect their implementation.

Other projects also reviewed were the Sarikei Division Cultural and Tourism Centre and the proposed P-turn at the Pan Borneo Highway junction leading to Jakar town.

Huang said the discussions focused on identifying constraints and determining clear follow-up actions to ensure the projects could proceed smoothly.

“The discussions are hoped to identify any issues or constraints faced and establish clear follow-up actions so that these projects can be implemented smoothly and benefit the people,” he said during the meeting with RADDA at the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre.

On the remaining RADDA allocation for the Sarikei parliamentary constituency, Huang said it should be utilised prudently, with priority given to projects that address genuine community needs and have a direct impact on residents.

He also called for continued close cooperation among RADDA, the Resident’s Office, Public Works Department (JKR), Sarikei District Council (MDS) and other relevant agencies to facilitate and accelerate development in Sarikei.

The coordination, he said, would be important to ensure that planned projects move forward efficiently and contribute meaningfully to the division’s overall development. – DayakDaily
