KUCHING (July 16): Junior Chamber International (JCI) Padawan opened its new secretariat at Mile 3 last weekend.
It will serve as a centralised space for members to hold their activities.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, who officiated at the event, commended JCI Padawan for always striving to provide leadership development opportunities to empower young people for positive change.
“I always encourage more young members to join non-profits like JCI Padawan, and set out to create more impact in their communities,” he said.
JCI Padawan president Douglas Bong said the new secretariat represented “eight years of collective hard work by all members and past presidents”.
“We have finally established our very own secretariat, which has not been easy, but we believe that it will create an environment that elevates JCI Padawan to greater heights.
“This place will be a place for creating memories, forging impactful legacies, and deepening friendships,” he said.
He thanked organising chair Alaric Sim and committee for ensuring a smooth event and secretariat sponsors 2018 president William Bong as well as 2020 president Johnny Bong.
Douglas also congratulated all JCI Padawan Mid-Year Awards honourees.
“It is always our culture to recognise outstanding members and contributors to this movement. We’re so proud of you all!” he said.
Chapter past presidents in attendance were Councillor Kiing Sie Ying (charter president 2017), Yap Kuoh Haw (2019), Rachael Justin (2021), Kristaine Alexander (2022), and Vincent Tang (2023).
