KUCHING (Sept 10): The Padawan Chapter of Junior Chamber International (JCI) recently conducted its ‘Eyes for Education’ programme, in collaboration with Pott Glasses KL.
This initiative meant to provide free eye tests and prescribed spectacles to needy pupils of SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim, a primary school located at Jalan Diplomatik here.
“This programme is meant to ensure that the donated glasses would have a significant and lasting impact on the children’s educational journey.
“Phase 1 focuses on providing the glasses and raising awareness, while Phase 2 extends the impact by addressing the specific needs of the underprivileged communities. This two-phase approach guarantees that our efforts would contribute to both immediate relief and long-term community development,” said JCI Padawan president Douglas Bong in a statement.
Adding on, he said the cooperation with Pott Glasses KL signified the commitment of providing underprivileged school-children ‘with the gift of clear vision’, and thus, empowering them to excel in their studies and helping to unlock their true potential.
“Moreover, this programme serves as the foundation for a long-term partnership aimed at impacting the wider community in Sarawak.
“Both Pott Glasses KL and JCI Padawan are dedicated to continually spreading awareness and offering support through future initiatives,” he said.
The programme at SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim was also attended by Pott Glasses KL co-founders Tai Hau and Eden Hoong, JCI Padawan secretary Alaric Sim and programme’s organising head Shirley Yew.
