Jerebu: 11 IPU readings are unhealthy as of 11:00 am

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 September: A total of 11 areas across the country recorded air pollution index (IPU) readings at unhealthy levels as of 11am this morning.

According to the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) portal, three areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy readings, namely Sri Aman and Serian with 174 readings as well as Kuching (135).

Meanwhile, eight areas on the Peninsula also recorded unhealthy IPU readings with highest readings recorded in Johan Setia, Selangor (158), Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (153), Val and Seremban, Negeri Sembilan 152 and 147, respectively, Pasir Gudang (145) and Larkin (136) in Johor, Putrajaya (134) and Alor Gajah, Melaka (115).

In total, 55 areas were reported to be moderate, while two regions recorded good readings.

IPU readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 301 above (dangerous). -TVS
