Jiwa Komuniti Madani brings Sibu community, government together

SIBU (Aug 4): The ‘Jiwa Komuniti Madani’ carried out by the Information Department is an important platform to create closer rapport between the local community and the government.

In stating this, Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) Environment and Public Health Standing Committee chairman Councillor Kevin Lau commended the department for bringing the programme to Rumah Mary Geruna at Sungai Bidut in Bawang Assan here.

“The Information Department always plays the important role of bringing information to the people regarding government’s policies meant to benefit the people,” he said at the opening of the ‘Jiwa Komuniti Madani’ at Rumah Mary Geruna, where he represented political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Romeo Christopher Tegong.

Lau was also pleased to see that the programme had included ‘gotong-royong’ (work party) and tree-planting in its activities.

“This is the very thing that the SRDC wants to encourage the residents to do to ensure a clean, safe and conducive environment in their neighbourhood,” he said.
