SARATOK (July 19): Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) plays an important role as an entity that manages village level administration, said Mohamad Duri.
According to the Kalaka assemblyman, JKKK needs to be more active and creative in its administrative management.
“We want JKKK to work with the government in an effort to improve the people’s standard of living in their respective areas.
“It would be great if there is an initiative to collaborate with government agencies since they have access to skilled personnel who can share the knowledge and skills needed.
“For that reason, we will not hesitate to assist JKKK in running its programmes smoothly, especially when such programmes involve the local community,” he said when officiating at the opening of Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (Centexs)’s fertigation, hydroponics and oyster mushroom-planting course at Kampung Kupang on Tuesday.
His text of speech was read by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kalaka branch secretary Gapor Ahmad.
A total of 76 participants joined the two-day programme jointly organised by JKKK Kampung Kupang Hilir together with Centexs Betong and Kalaka Service Centre.
Mohamad Duri mentioned that the programme complemented the government’s mission to strengthen concepts related to modern agriculture.
“We hope this programme can open the eyes of many people about modern farming methods that are becoming more popular and environment-friendly, and that the knowledge and skills gained through it can be put into practice or shared with others.
“God willing, if the intention is right, we can help the community to improve their income from this course,” he said.
