KUCHING: The Sarawak National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN), in collaboration with the Sarawak government, hosted the Budi@Seni: Inspirasi Generasi (I-Gen) programme at SMK Matang Hilir yesterday (July 18).

According to JKKN, the programme, which was officiated by its director, Noor Seela Noor Sulaiman, aims to instil noble values, high cultural standards, character formation, and patriotism among youth.

They said that the key objectives include promoting noble values and culture among secondary school students and empowering youth through the involvement of iconic figures.

“Among the iconic figures were Penghulu Andrewson Ngalai, recipient of the Anugerah Tokoh Perpaduan Sarawak (Anugerah Sri Apreasiasi Seni Sarawak) in conjunction with Anugerah Seni Negara Sarawak (ASBS) 2023, and Sarawak Youth Icon 2023, Sharnaz Saberi, who is also the founder of Prodigy Music Centre Sarawak.

“The programme was moderated by RTM TV personality and radio announcer Vanessa Mering,” they said in a statement today (July 19).

JKKN added that the initiative benefits not only participants but also the broader art community by raising cultural awareness and fostering creativity.

“JKKN Sarawak hopes the programme will inspire a new generation to be creative, innovative, and united.”
