KAPIT (Sept 2): The body of a 19-year-old labourer was found near his home yesterday.
Kapit police chief DSP Rohana Nanu confirmed today that the body was discovered by the public approximately 50 metres from his residence.
Rohana said an initial police examination found no signs of struggle on the victim’s body.
However, there was only one wound on the teenager’s neck, believed to be caused by a slash.
Rohana said no missing person’s report was filed.
“The victim’s body has been sent to Sibu Hospital for an autopsy scheduled for today.
“We are awaiting the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death,” she said when contacted.
She added the case is currently classified as sudden death pending further investigation results.
“The public are advised not to speculate about this incident. The police will continue to monitor the case’s progress and will update information as soon as available,” she added.
She also urged members of the community not to spread rumours that could cause unrest among local residents and to allow the authorities to carry out their duties thoroughly.
