KUCHING (Sept 13): Kelly Group, a group of local benefactors, donated 50 cans of special milk powder supplements worth RM3,750 to Hope Place Kuching earlier this week.
Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan, in a press statement yesterday, said the group has been a regular contributor to the non-governmental organisation (NGO) in supporting its charitable cause to help the underserved community here.
“Currently, Hope Place is supporting about 26 tube-feeding patients, who are unable to generate income by themselves.
“One of them is Sim Soon Ang, who at the age of 58 was diagnosed with oral cancer and is unable to consume any solid food.
“Living alone in a Buddhist temple, he expressed his gratefulness to Hope Place for the willingness to continue supplying him the special milk he needs,” he said.
Wan also shared about Iswandy Zainal, a 45-year-old family man who needs to take special milk once every four hours due to throat cancer, leaving him unable to speak.
“Usually, tube-feeding patients consume two to three cans of milk weekly,” he added.
Wan said Hope Place received the donation from Kelly Lau, the person-in-charge of Kelly Group.
“We are very thankful to people like these who have the heart and passion to help our community,” he said, adding that they are also supporting 46 adult diaper users who are disabled or with chronic illness.
“The NGO welcomes all contributions, whether in cash or in-kind, to aid these marginalised people,” said Wan.
