Kemas Kindergarten Limbang Parliament triumphs at Zone 5 Children’s Potential Day

BINTULU: The Kemas Kindergarten of Limbang Parliament emerged as the overall champion of the Kemas Kindergarten Children’s Potential Day Zone 5 Year 2024, held at the Dewan Suarah grounds here.

The Limbang contingent secured victories in the netball and Kids Athletics events and earned third place in both the futsal and creative movement events.

A total of 267 children from Kemas Kindergarten Zone 5, representing seven parliamentary constituencies—Hulu Rejang, Miri, Baram, Limbang, Lawas, Sibu and Bintulu—participated in the event.

The children showcased their talents, abilities, and creativity through five sports events, as part of this year’s Kemas Kindergarten Children’s Potential Day Zone 5.

In the futsal event, the Kemas Lawas Kindergarten contingent emerged as champions, while Kemas Hulu Rejang Parliament led in the creative movement event.

Immanuel Lumit Christopher Sigu from Kemas Lawas Parliament was awarded the Outstanding Child Award.

Winners from each event will go on to represent Zone 5 at the Sarawak-level competition, scheduled to take place from Aug 16 to 18 at IKMAS Kuching.

Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming presented the prizes to the winners, accompanied by the deputy director of the Sarawak Sta y Childhood Education Unit, Roselind Wilson Laing.

In her speech, Roselind expressed pride in the commitment and potential demonstrated by the young participants, highlighting the importance of such programmes in fostering noble values, self-confidence, physical fitness, and agility.

She noted that these events provide parents and the community with the opportunity to observe and identify the socio-emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual development of their children.
