KUCHING: A total of 27 activities will be conducted throughout the eight-day Kembara Kasih programme by the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development, which will begin in Kuching and continue to Lawas.
Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said that the programme is crucial to introduce the community to the services offered by the agencies under the ministry.
She said the journey, which will involve eight districts, will feature various activities including standard programmes and specific ones for each area.
“In general, we have 27 activities that will be held in the eight involved districts, and many of them will be implemented later on.
“So, the activities that will be conducted will be very interesting and tailored to the target groups,” she said after attending a rehearsal for the launching ceremony and the inauguration of the One-Stop Social Support Centre (PSSS) at Kuching Waterfront, here today.
Using an example of an activity that will be held in Bintulu, Nancy added that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed with the Bintulu Port Authority.
“We will be signing an MoU with the Bintulu Port Authority, where they have agreed to sponsor the Anjung Kasih facility for the area.
“Anjung Kasih is very important in every hospital, especially in Sarawak, as it provides a necessary facility for caregivers or family members of patients to rest,” she explained.
Additionally, she informed that in Beluru and Lawas, the Women Upliftment programme will take place, and aid recipients have already been identified.
According to her, activities carried out in conjunction with this journey will also involve women, adults, and teenagers.
“The most important aspect this time is that we have a mobile PSSS, which will be inaugurated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“Here, individuals can meet with skilled counselors to discuss their issues and receive counseling services if they are experiencing stress or other problems,” she said.
