SADONG JAYA, Nov 1: Kota Samarahan and Petra Jaya will be a 20-minute drive once the Sejingkat Bridge is completed, says Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He shared that the Sarawak government has planned a comprehensive masterplan for Sadong Jaya, Asajaya, and the surrounding areas, extending from Sebuyau to Lingga in Sri Aman and connecting through Samarahan to Simunjan and Gedong.
“Firstly, we are building a dual-carriageway with four lanes from Kampung Tambirat junction, passing through Sadong Jaya and continuing to Gedong. Another road will be linked through Sadong Jaya.
“Once these roads are open, residents will be able to develop their lands, especially for modern agriculture, and we will also be able to expand residential areas.
“Meanwhile, with the new road through Kampung Beliong, connected via the new Sejingkat Bridge, it will only take 20 minutes to reach Petra Jaya. This entire area will be interconnected as we extend development from Beliong to Tanjung Embang,” he said when officiating the new Masjid Darul Iman in Sadong Jaya here today.
The construction of the RM365 million Sejingkat Bridge crossing the Sarawak River is currently ongoing and is expected to be completed on June 25, 2025.
On the other hand, the Darul Iman Mosque was originally built on Nov 21, 2000, on a site of 1.678 hectares, with a construction cost of RM2.27 million.
At the end of 2006, ablution and restroom facilities were constructed adjacent to the mosque, at a cost of RM100,000, to enhance the comfort of the congregation.
The mosque has recently undergone another upgrade to enhance its beauty, featuring a new building with four minarets, with an approved allocation of RM11.25 million from Abang Johari.
The project began on Nov 26, 2021, and has been completed on August 16, 2024.
