KUCHING, Sept 20: Police are investigating a brawl at an eatery in Kota Sentosa here that left a 28-year-old man injured after he was allegedly assaulted by a man known to him and several others.

The incident occurred at about 7pm on Sept 18, with police receiving a report at about 7.45pm the same day.

Padawan District Police Chief Supt Barry William said the victim was allegedly assaulted with hands and hard objects following a domestic dispute.

“The victim sought treatment at Sarawak General Hospital and sustained several external injuries to his head, back, hands and legs,” he said in a statement issued today.

Police are now working to identify and track down the main suspect and several other individuals believed to have been involved.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

Barry urged the public not to speculate, make assumptions or circulate unverified information about the incident, particularly on social media.

He warned that spreading false or inaccurate information could cause confusion and affect the investigation.

Members of the public with information related to the incident are urged to come forward and assist police with the investigation.

“Public cooperation is greatly appreciated to ensure the investigation can be conducted transparently and thoroughly,” he said. — DayakDaily
