KUCHING (Aug 7): A needy family of seven in Kampung Stutong Melayu here received a visit Monday from Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, who helped with their application for welfare assistance.
Yap, who was accompanied by officers from the Kuching Division Social Welfare Department, said the husband of this family is currently unemployed, while the wife had recently given birth to twins.
“He had also approached me for assistance to repair his dilapidated house,” he said in a statement.
During the visit, he handed over a food basket and vouchers amounting to RM200 from the Kuching Division Social Welfare Department.
Yap and the welfare officers also paid a visit to a single-mother family in the same neighbourhood to review and assess her situation for welfare assistance.
“We handed over a food basket and a donation of RM410 to assist the single mother, who is a factory worker and sole breadwinner of the family.
“I hope the monetary contribution can help lighten her burden in the payment of the outstanding funeral expenses of her father who recently passed away,” he said.
Yap added he is always concerned about the well-being and welfare of the communities in his constituency, and is dedicated to extending a helping hand to the needy and poor.
“Those requiring my assistance can always approach community leaders from my constituency.
“Alternatively, they can go to my Service Centre at E-2-25, 2nd Floor, Gala Street Mall, Gala City at Jalan Tun Jugah, Kempas Heights to apply for assistance,” he said.
