KUCHING, Aug 6: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, alongside officers from the Kuching Division Social Welfare Department, have recently visited two struggling families in Kampung Stutong Melayu to offer much-needed assistance and support.
According to a press release, Yap’s first visit took place yesterday afternoon at Lorong 1, where he met with a family of seven dealing with severe financial hardship.
The father, currently unemployed, and his wife, who recently gave birth to twins, found themselves in desperate need of support.
Recognising their plight, Yap and the welfare officers facilitated the family’s application for welfare assistance.
In addition, the Kota Sentosa assemblyman distributed a food basket and RM200 in vouchers donated by the Kuching Division Social Welfare Department.
The unemployed father also appealed for help to repair their dilapidated home.
The second visit saw Yap and the welfare officers at Lorong 9, where they assessed a single mother’s eligibility for welfare assistance.
Working as a factory worker and the sole breadwinner for her family, she struggled with the outstanding funeral expenses of her recently deceased father.
Yap provided a food basket and a donation of RM410 to ease her financial burden.
The Kota Sentosa assemblyman further emphasised his commitment to the well-being and welfare of the communities within N12 Kota Sentosa, highlighting his dedication to offering assistance to those in need.
He encouraged residents requiring support to reach out to community leaders or visit his Service Centre at E-2-25, 2nd Floor, Gala Street Mall, Gala City, Jalan Tun Jugah, Kempas Heights, 93350 Kuching. — DayakDaily
