KUCHING, 17 Sept: Ministry of Internal Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will continue monitoring and enforcement through Ops Tiris 4.0 (Integrated) including in the fishing sector to ensure government subsidies truly benefit target groups.

His deputy minister, Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said continuous monitoring is essential to counteract corruption, abuse and misuse of control and subsidies.

According to him, cross-agency cooperation including with the Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) will be strengthened in order to ensure more effective implementation of subsidized diesel distribution mechanism to fishermen.

"KPDN will also continue monitoring of controls through Ops Tiris 4.0 (Integrated) including the fishing sector to ensure that government subsidy benefits people and targeted sectors", he said.

He said this while reviewing the process of sale and distribution of subsidized diesel to fishermen at Diesel Sales Centre (PJD), Fisheries Association (PNK), LKIM Fisheries Port Tanjung Bako, here today.

Fuziah explained that sharing information with LKIM including fishing activity data as well as systems like e-Landering could help KPDN get a more comprehensive picture of subsidized diesel usage.

In addition, accurate and up-to-date information in real time allows monitoring to be carried out more effectively, as well as helping identify risk of constipation at an early stage.

"Cooperation between agencies is crucial because effective enforcement requires the right information support. With more complete data sharing, monitoring and enforcement actions can be implemented in a more orderly manner", he said.
