PHNOM PENH, Sept 16: Kuching City FC is determined to give its best performance on its debut in the AFC Champions League Two (ACL2) competition when facing Phnom Penh Crown FC at Morodok Techo National Stadium tomorrow.

Kuching City FC head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak said the opening match was important for both teams as it was the start of their respective campaigns in a group stage competition.

He said Kuching City FC expected a competitive match with both teams will give full commitment to produce exciting action.

"This match is very important for both teams because it's the start of ACL2. It's definitely going to be an exciting game with both teams giving 100 percent", he told a pre-match press conference here today.

Aidil said that Phnom Penh Crown has some quality players to be looked after, especially the number 10, Moses Dyer, in addition to the number 14 player who has left foot advantage in a dead-ball situation.

However, he said the main focus of Kuching City FC was on the game plan and performance of his own team against the Cambodian representative.

According to him, the development of Cambodian football has also grown significantly since he faced Phnom Penh Crown in AFC Cup competition in 2017.

He said the improvement was seen through player quality, including the presence of foreign players brought in to strengthen local league competition.

"The Cambodian Football League has improved since we faced them. Now they have more quality players, especially foreign players brought into the league", he said.

Meanwhile, Kuching City FC player Gabriel Nistelrooy said his team was excited to make their first appearance in the ACL2 competition and were determined to give their best performance.

He said Kuching City FC was aware of the strength of Phnom Penh Crown, but players would maintain discipline and stick to team planning throughout the match.

"We know Phnom Penh has a good team and players, including number 14. However, we will remain with the team planning and discipline and give 100 percent in the match", he said.
