KUCHING, Sept. 22: Kuching City FC plans to host a high-intensity friendly match during FIFA's break in preparation for the AFC Champions League Two (ACL Two) and ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup.

Kuching City FC Executive Chairman, Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the club is currently in talks with several teams to get opponents for the friendly event.

According to him, the match was important in ensuring that players and team officials made thorough preparations before facing international competition including operational requirements such as the use of a numbered ticket system set by the organisers.

"We are in talks with several teams and our goal is to get two teams as the FIFA break lasts for two weeks.

"We need a high-intensity match to ensure the team is at their best", he said as he met with media in Sarawak State Library, today.

However, Fazzrudin said the identity of the team that will be the opponent has not yet been revealed as negotiations are still ongoing.

"We have not yet been able to confirm the team involved as the negotiation process is still ongoing. However, we targeted two teams from Peninsular Malaysia and neighbouring countries to conduct the friendly action", he said.

The next match will see Kuching City face Tampines Rovers FC from Singapore on October 7 in the Shopee Cup competition

Kuching City also focused on the FA Cup second quarter-final against Kelantan City scheduled to take place next October 10 at Sarawak Stadium.

Both teams tied without a net in the first quarter-final match at Kota Bharu.-TVS
