KUCHING: The integration of advanced technology in Lalamove’s delivery service operations aligns with Sarawak’s digital transformation agenda, says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.

He said that the role of digital solutions in modernising transportation and delivery services is indisputable in today’s digital era.

He also stated that the state is committed to supporting technological advancements that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery across all sectors.

“To achieve this goal, the government and the private sector need to enhance cooperation as it plays a crucial role in driving innovation and ensuring we remain competitive in this rapidly changing and challenging world.

“Continued investment in infrastructure and technology is also vital, and the state government is committed to creating an environment that fosters growth and development.

“We as the state also remains dedicated to improving the standard of living for the people and creating opportunities for all,” he said.

Lee said this in his speech during the opening ceremony of the Lalamove Driver Centre here on Thursday (Aug 8).

He added that Lalamove has great potential and various sectors will be eager to collaborate closely with them in achieving shared goals.

“Looking ahead, I am optimistic about the positive impact of this new driver centre on our community. In fact, 3,000 people have registered as drivers within just two months (since May 2024).

“Sarawak’s future economic growth is very promising, and I welcome all stakeholders to join us on this journey towards progress.

“Together, we can build a progressive, prosperous, and sustainable future for all Sarawakians,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lee also hopes that Lalamove will consider extending its services to other major public routes such as Miri, Sibu, and Bintulu in the future.

“If this service is well received, I hope Lalamove can consider extending its services to other parts of Sarawak.

“Previously, we visited Lalamove’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, and I fully understand Lalamove’s function to the community. Therefore, I am confident that Lalamove can provide excellent holistic services in this state,” he said.
