Lawyer perishes in single vehicle accident at Jalan Batu Kawa

KUCHING (July 27): A lawyer died after he was involved in a single vehicle accident near a concrete factory at Jalan Batu Kawa at 11.22pm Friday night.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said the deceased was identified as Ateng Jeros, 71, who was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“The deceased, who was trapped inside the vehicle that landed on its roof after the crash, was successfully extricated by rescuers,” it said.

It added also involved in the crash was the deceased’s daughter, who managed to crawl to safety.

She was given first-aid treatment at the scene before being sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment.

The deceased’s body was later handed over to the police for transport to the hospital’s forensics department for further action.
