KUCHING: Long Lellang Short Take Off and Landing (STOL)port has been cleared to resume normal operations from Saturday following a joint cleanup and safety inspection after the helicopter crash on Sept 8.
The operation was conducted from 8 am to 4 pm on Friday (Sept 11), involving 26 personnel from the Civil Defence Volunteers Corps (RELA), Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd (MASB), Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Layang Layang Aerospace.
The team inspected the runway and surrounding areas to ensure they were free from debris, foreign object debris (FOD) and other obstructions that could affect flight safety.
Following the comprehensive inspection, Long Lellang STOLport was confirmed safe and ready to resume normal operations today (Sept 12).
The operation followed the crash of helicopter 9M LFF at Long Lellang on Sept 8, which claimed the lives of all five people on board.
