Looking for 1,500 running buddies

KUCHING: The Sarawak Deaf Sports Association is aiming to attract over 1,500 runners for its Silent Run 4.0 on Nov 24 at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) lobby.

The event will feature two categories: a 5km run starting at 6.30am and a 3km run beginning at 6.45am.
Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah had called on the public to support the event.

“The target of 1,500 participants is challenging, but we believe we can achieve it with public support,” she told reporters after the association paid a courtesy visit to her office at Baitulmakmur II Building today (Aug 2).

Fatimah also received a courtesy visit from the Regional Centre for Special Educational Needs (SEAMEO SEN).

SEAMEO SEN is seeking to collaborate with Sarawak on training for Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) staff using the Care Skills Training Module for Children with Autism (ASD) and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD) developed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Autism Speaks.

Established by the Malaysian Education Ministry under the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), SEAMEO SEN serves as a regional hub for special education for 11 Southeast Asian countries.
