Lundu boat tragedy: Remains of three victims to be laid to rest at Selampit Cemetery tomorrow

KUCHING (Aug 22): The remains of the three students who perished after the boat carrying them across Sungai Batang Kayan near Kampung Selampit in Lundu capsized on Tuesday will be laid to rest at Selampit Cemetery tomorrow.

According to Adi Jitwil, the family members of the three victims have agreed that they would be buried at the cemetery at 10am.

“My late sister (Alasma Jitwil) and the two other victims (Helena Fasha Petrus and Vilkie Wilson) will be buried at the Selampit Cemetery, located opposite the junction entering FGVPM Sampadi 03 office.

“All family members of the deceased said they wanted to lay them to rest there,” he said when contacted by The Borneo Post.

Alasma’s remains were found earlier this morning, while the remains of Helena and Vilkie were recovered during the second day of the search and rescue operation yesterday.
